Valium is used to treat anxiety disorders, insomnia and muscle spasms as well as symptoms associated with alcohol withdrawal. This medication is not labeled for use during pregnancy due to the potential harm to the fetus. Valium can be passed through breast milk to nursing infants and may have undesirable effects.
